Roseanne Barr went from having a controversial TV show that was championed by a sitting president to being fired from that TV show, and regarded as a pariah. Roseanne will carry on without its titular star and producer. And after a bunch of legal wrangling, Barr will make no further money from the spinoff tentatively called The Conners. But the TV star with a deep love of Donald Trump insists you don’t know the real story. And she’s going to tell it to the only person she trusts to get it right. Herself.
On Sunday, Barr tweeted that she had plans to do a TV interview. But kept the details under wraps.
To my wonderful fans who I treasure and love-who have carried me these past weeks when I was 2 weak 2 carry myself: I will be doing a TV interview this week. I’ll tell u about it tomorrow!

Whatever plans were in the works clearly dissolved. Because the next day, Barr revealed a new plan. She would interview herself on Youtube.
After a lot of thought, I decided that I won’t be doing any TV interviews, too stressful & untrustworthy 4 me & my fans. I’m going to film it myself & post it on my youtube channel in the next week-the entire explanation of what happened & why! I love you all-sign up & get ready.

In case you just can’t wait to know what really happened: Roseanne Barr tweeted a racist remark in support of a batshit conspiracy theory. And even in a time where Trump is working to run any sense of decency into the ground, a major corporation finally decided she’d crossed a line. She was fired, not because she is a self-styled martyr, not because she is Trump’s favorite not-him TV star, not because she didn’t realize that comparing a black woman to an ape is racist AF. Barr was fired because enough people rose up to say, “Enough.” Enough of letting a TV star do whatever they want, whoever it hurts be damned.
Nothing she has to tell herself on Youtube will change that. No bullshit apologies. No Ambien excuses. Nothing. And perhaps before too long, her next guest will be her biggest fan, a certain reality TV star with whom this self-aggrandizing bigot has a lot in common.
