Ronda Rousey Slams Domestic Abuser Floyd Mayweather With ESPY Win Speech

Caitlyn Jenner’s ESPY awards acceptance speech will surely score more headlines today, and understandably so. But we want to take a moment to toast how UFC Champion Ronda Rousey celebrated her ESPY win.

In an interview with ESPN Sports, Rousey addressed her feud with the criminally violent pro boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Referring to his multiple convictions of domestic violence and battery against women, Rousey said, “I wonder how Floyd [Mayweather] feels being beat by a woman for once.”

Then she followed this mic-drop moment up with a double-down, responding to the recent headlines that Mayweather didn’t know who Rousey is, much less that she’s a woman dead-set on knocking him out. She smiled, “I’d like to see you pretend to not know who I am now.” (Mayweather has since apologized for the mix-up.)

This isn’t the first time Rousey’s called out Mayweather. While she was promoting her appearance in the Entourage movie, she was asked if she would ever take on the fellow undefeated fighter, and she said with a laugh that makes us worship her, “I don’t think me and him would ever fight unless we ended up dating.”

People who know sports keep saying these two will never share the ring. But official be damned! Tell Mayweather such a fight would count towards his community service, and then donate ALL proceeds to domestic abuse charities. I bet Rousey’d be on board.
