If you go to the website for Fenty Entertainment, don’t be surprised when you don’t see a picture of Rihanna (full name Robyn Rihanna Fenty) greeting you at the door. She ain’t got nothing to do with that shit. Fenty Entertainment is her daddy’s company, and she’s suing him and another man named Moses Perkins, for trying to profit off her name. Sure, she shares the name Fenty with her father Ronald Fenty, but I think we all know which one’s the real mogul. In the lawsuit, Rihanna claims that her pops created an “entertainment” company called Fenty Entertainment and has been using her name to solicit business and make bookings on her behalf.

According to Rolling Stone:

Per the suit, Fenty and Perkins “have egregiously and fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company … is affiliated with Rihanna, and has the authority to act on her behalf. Mr. Fenty and Mr. Perkins have used these lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorized to act on Rihanna’s behalf, and/or that Rihanna would perform at various locations throughout the world.”

So in case you didn’t know that Rihanna’s pops was a dusty grifter before, now you do. According to the company’s (unverified) Twitter bio, Fenty Entertainment claims to be a “groundbreaking entertainment company, focused on cultivating new talent and developing TV and media platforms”. The account only has 181 followers and it appears that their only signed artist is a young man who posts videos about how to cook hotdogs and fry chicken in Hennessy.

Their website consists of a landing page with a link for “submissions” that opens up one of those annoying Microsoft Outlook envelopes. As busted and janky as that all is, Ronald and Moses somehow (allegedly) managed to book a number of concerts for Rihanna that neither she nor her actual label, Roc Nation, knew anything about.

These included a 15-show tour in Latin America that would’ve been worth $15 million, as well as 15-minute sets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas totaling $400,000.

According to the suit, the company also tried to profit off the trademark “Fenty” which, because she’s not a fucking idiot, Rihanna has owned the copyright to for years, and uses it for her various ventures including Fenty Beauty. Roger even had the damn nerve to file his own trademark for “Fenty” to use on a chain of boutique hotels. Somebody at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office had a good laugh at that as they stamped it with a big Stunna red DENIED.

Here’s the most recent Fenty Entertainment post on Facebook. Look, a real celebrity! Did you know that Wesley Snipes currently owes the US Government almost $10 million in back taxes!? Game recognize game.

Rihanna sent multiple requests to cease and desist, but had gotten no response, prompting the lawsuit. An Instagram account purporting to be Ronald’s, @Papafenty, is filled with shots of the two throughout the years. It makes me sad.

Of course, we can never know the complexities of relationships we’re not privy to. People Magazine has reported in the past that, Ronald has suffered from additions to crack cocaine and alcohol. The Blast notes that Rihanna has discussed watching her father physically assault her mother. And Lord knows, nobody can hurt you like family. I’m guessing Ronald’s never made himself available for family counseling. But did make himself available to OK! Magazine (no doubt for a fee). He responded to them exclusively:

Ronald spoke with OK! about the suit, and seemed extremely frustrated about her allegations that he was wrongfully using her name. “She is? Suing me? Why would she sue me? It’s my name!” he exclaimed. “She’s never going to sue me — I’ll have to fight it!”

“Thing is she doesn’t have the time to deal with all this stuff herself, so it is someone else that will be doing it, she’s working hard on her album at the moment. I don’t think she’d sue me.”

“This is all news to me. They sent something to Fenty Entertainment, it was a letter from Roc Nation I think, but my lawyer said it was OK. They said they preferred me not to use the name, but they didn’t say I couldn’t.”

Oh, Ronald you sound like a stone cold dumdum. This is all wrong and I hope Riri has already processed her relationship with her dad so she can simply give him the old …
