Rachel Bilson and Bill Hader were spotted together over the weekend enjoying coffee, which might not be such a big deal, except that they were spotted having coffee in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and everyone knows that there’s no good coffee in Oklahoma.

I kid, but seriously, and with no offense, but Tulsa, Oklahoma is not a city I think about a lot. I grew up near it. There were a lot of those anti-abortion billboards and abortion graveyards between Fayetteville, Arkansas and Tulsa, which we would sometimes drive to for more favorable flights. It’s also from where our old friend Kimberly Ricci — formerly Agent Bedhead — hails. Otherwise, I have literally no knowledge of Tulsa, other than it was the setting for the year’s best series, HBO’s Watchmen.

It’s also the hometown of Bill Hader, and the fact that Bill Hader was spotted getting coffee with Rachel Bilson in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the holidays suggests that Bilson and Hader’s relationship is serious enough that she’s going home to meet his Oklahoma family, which includes two younger sisters. Bilson — who is from Los Angeles (her father wrote the screenplay for The Rocketeer) — would otherwise have no reason to visit Tulsa, Oklahoma, except to visit the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum, which is fictional.

Anyway, they are a fascinating couple. They make sense together. And yet, who would have imagined the star of The O.C. and Hart of Dixie ending up with the Barry/SNL guy? They’re of similar age (Hader is 41 and she is 38); they’re both very recognizable but neither are super famous; they both have kids; they both are very private; and they both seem like lovely people.

They also apparently worked together on 2013’s To Do List, which was directed by Hader’s ex-wife, Maggie Carey (a movie I remember simultaneously liking while also acknowledging that it was not very good). I like to think that, one night, Hader was drinking alone after a long day on the set of Barry and he remembered what a lovely repartee he and Bilson had in their limited interactions on the set of The To-Do List, and Hader looked her up on Wikipedia and discovered that she was no longer with Hayden Christianson. After one too many drinks, Hader left a relatively benign comment on one of Bilson’s Instagram posts, and Bilson looked through her phone contacts and discovered that she had Hader’s number, and she texted, “You up?” and they ended up exchanging texts until 5 a.m. and decided to go out for coffee three days later.

We have nothing else to add here, except that we emphatically approve and we hope that it is this Instagram post where Hader secretly fell in love with Bilson back in September.
