Photographer, noted creep, and repeated alleged sexual abuser Terry Richardson, a man whom the fashion industry aided and supported for many years despite multiple accusations of abusing the women he worked with, has now been accused of rape by model Caron Bernstein.
In a piece with the New York Daily News, Bernstein, now 47, recounts a 2003 photo-shoot she did with Richardson, wherein he allegedly sat her on a chair before exposing his penis and forcing it into her mouth. Bernstein says, ‘It was like literally being shot with a stun gun. My brain just went on pause… I wasn’t drugged, I wasn’t handcuffed. Thank God that never happened. But in a weird way, that would have made it easier to forgive myself for not fighting him off.’
Richardson’s team denies the allegation and claims ‘any contact she had with Mr. Richardson was consensual’, but this is hardly the first accusation Richardson has faced, as we noted in this piece from October. The fashion world, including Conde Nast publications and a number of high-profile brands, seem to have quietly blacklisted Richardson in the wake of #metoo and Harvey Weinstein, but that does little to mitigate the glowing support they gave him for decades as various stories came out about him: Jamie Peck accused him of coercing her into giving him a handjob and asking her to remove her tampon for him to make tea with; then 19-year-old Charlotte Waters details an alleged incident where ‘he had me pose on it with my back to him, and I literally felt him come over and start licking my ass’, all while his assistant photographed it; a 2014 Jezebel account from an anonymous stylist describes an incident very similar to Bernstein’s.
It is also notable that Richardson’s lawyer is trying to use the photo-shoot itself as proof that Bernstein was a willing participant in her alleged assault. According to the New York Daily News, these pictures, ‘apparently snapped in succession showed Bernstein in different positions with semen on her breasts. Her face was cropped out of those prints.’
Good riddance to abusive hack rubbish.
