Nowadays, Justin Timberlake lives a life of fame, fortune, and glamour. However, there was a time not so long ago when he was just a guy trying to make his mark while being pelted with urine. It’s not a sex thing. It’s the worst concert experience of his life, and the pop star told the tale on The Graham Norton Show.

This story begins in 2002, after Timberlake had left *NSYNC. The Rolling Stones had invited the newly solo singer to perform on the bill of a charity event in Toronto that also boasted such living legends as AC/DC and The Guess Who. That must have been intimidating for the former boy bander. That might have been why Timberlake feared the rock-loving audience wouldn’t be with him as he took to the stage. But he calmed himself with the thought, “Canadians are a historically peaceful people.” Then came the piss bottles.

“It wasn’t always good times for me, you guys.”

That (and a life lesson about “be tenacious”) aren’t all this ep of The Graham Norton Show had to offer. Anna Kendrick also shared a blush-worthy anecdote, which Alan Carr topped with a tale of accents and awkwardly offed knickers.

Finally, the English comedian shared the details on his absolutely fabulous wedding, which was officiated by the one and only Adele, who made an incredible offer to a local lawnmower.
