Oh, Good, Henry Cavill Has More Things to Say, Is Still an Asshat
I think “Henry Cavill Says Things” may be a new Pajiba feature. This time on Henry Cavill Says Things, he talks a huge issue: catcalling.
“I do think there’s a bit of a double standard, you know.
“I mean, if a girl shouts something like ‘Oi, love, fancy a shag?’ to me as I walk past I do sometimes wonder how she’d feel if a builder said that to her.
Although, of course, I wouldn’t feel physically threatened, as she might.”
This of course comes on the heels of his important views on diversity.
“Maybe the solution is to have more diversity in the members. But does that mean we are saying that to have more black academy members would result in more black nominations? Is that not racist itself?”
Calling out “double standards” in women protesting catcalling? Asking if trying not to be racist is racist? Guys…I think Henry Cavill might be 80% of the men on Twitter. He’s just playing devil’s advocate! Just asking questions! I mean, really, why not National Men’s Day?
Lost in the discussion over his diversity comments last week was this gem:
It’s the issue right now as far as the entertainment industry is concerned. I honestly believe that every year there are people passed over who should have been nominated, and that there are people who shouldn’t have been nominated who are. And I don’t think anything has ever changed in that respect. It’s subjective. I watch movies with my girlfriend all the time, and I will sit there and say, ‘That was shit!’ and she’ll go, ‘Really? I enjoyed it!’
BREAKING NEWS: A 32-year-old man and his 19-year-old girlfriend like different films.
Next time on Henry Cavill Says Things, I hope they ask him about the wage gap. That should be golden.
