Last night, Lena Dunham played “Plead the Fifth” on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen … but wait wait wait! Don’t leave! This is not about Lena Dunham. I mean, not really. In the segment, she did say that Daniel Tosh was the most misogynistic guy in the industry (while Maggie Gyllenhaal paid Tosh the ultimate dis when she said, “I don’t know him,” and she meant it), and Dunham also said that she thought that Calvin Harris was Taylor Swift’s worst boyfriend, because he was petty in the public about their break-up.

None of that particularly interests me, but I have always wondered what the real story was behind Christopher Abbot’s departure from Girls, a years-old story that probably no one gives a damn about anymore, but he wound up in Jessica Biel’s Sinner last season and he pops up here and there, and I always think, “Huh. It’s the guy from Girls. Why did he leave again?

Here’s the video, but I’ll transcribe Dunham’s comments if you don’t feel like watching it (though, you will miss Maggie in a fantastic pantsuit doing a shot at the end).

I would say our difference is that I was amazing at my job and he couldn’t handle it. I mean, I just like … I don’t know what to say. He just didn’t want to do it anymore. He wigged out. And by the way, that’s his prerogative. I’m sure he had plenty of great reasons. But I do remember he said something about being “stuck on a sitcom,” and I didn’t love that. But he’s a real true artist and we’ve come to a great place.

Well, good for him. I guess. And I’m not trying to be a dick here, but also that “real artist” left that “sitcom” to go play this character in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and the grieving husband in The Sinner, so …

Lena Dunham’s Camping with Jennifer Garner and David Tennant comes out on Sunday on HBO. I’ve heard good things, for what it’s worth.
