Norm Macdonald has passed away after a decade-long battle with cancer. The story was first broken by Deadline.

“Macdonald’s death was announced to Deadline by his management firm Brillstein Entertainment. The comedian’s longtime producing partner and friend Lori Jo Hoekstra, who was with him when died, said Macdonald had been battling cancer for nearly a decade but was determined to keep his health struggles private, away from family, friends and fans.”

The comedian had a prolific career in comedy, even delivering one of the (to my knowledge) first recorded sets about the Coronavirus pandemic last March. He was a favorite of late-night talk show hosts, often packing his interviews with hilarious rants that were just as funny as anything he did on stage.

He was a cast member on SNL from 1993-1998. During that time he had a successful run as the anchor for “Weekend Update,” and a recurring bit as Burt Reynolds during the famous “Celebrity Jeopardy” sketches.

Norm will be missed and our hearts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.
