Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains 'Interstellar's' Ending, and How to Meet Friends in Space and Time

Note: If it’s not already obvious, Interstellar spoilers are…somewhere in this circular post.

I’m no astrophysicist (trying to convince my daughter to be one), but I still like to let my brain try to work movies like Interstellar out — I know many of you do too. This time I got lucky and that little pea-sized thing in my head worked out the non-linear time business well enough to satisfy itself, though the more I discuss it with people, the less coherent I sound. Basically — I think — you can’t look Interstellar time as being linear, nor try to work out in what order Cooper did particular things in a past, present and future kind of way. You have to look at things either in the form of a circle, happening continuously, or as happening at different points — not attached to a time. But you didn’t come here to listen to my ideas; you came for Neil deGrasse Tyson and his most excellent, easily understandable dimension explanation.

Gotta love that guy; Interstellar solved in three minutes flat. Or, you know…
