Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of the release of Amy Heckerling’s Clueless, a classic comedy that is still the best adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. (Sorry, Emma.) The web was rich with think pieces, fan art, and odes to the fantastic film’s memorable lines and lovable characters. But our favorite came from Nailed It’s charm-bomb of a host, comedian Nicole Byer.
So the world is wild. I hope this makes you laugh. Also this bit? Very expensive. @JohnMilhiser made his hat pic.twitter.com/uZiNhQ7Fjj

Byer lived her California Girl fantasy with the help of Saturday Night Live alum John Milhiser; she played “virgin who can’t drive” Cher Horowitz. He played Dionne Davenport, fiercely fashionable BFF. Together, they recreated one of the Clueless’s classic scenes. Then they did a photoshoot, which she shared on Instagram.

The Instagram post also revealed the anniversary celebration was a total coincidence. Byer was totally buggin’! She and Milhiser did this bit for fun! She also shared the two besties are living together, which has made quarantine more fun. Or as she put it, “I love living with a person who is happy to do the dumbest sh*t with me. Life is wild and ya gotta do sh*t that makes ya smile.”
Their homage also got love from celebrity fans, including RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Star BenDeLaCreme, The Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden, drag comedian Tom Lenk, and SNL’s alum Sasheer Zamata, who co-hosts Byer’s podcast Best Friends with Nicole Byer and Sasheer Zamata.
Clueless is now streaming on Netflix.
