If you didn’t hear, they’re making a Disney movie about Mo’ne Davis. And Joey Casselberry, a baseball player at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania had some thoughts about that.
This gentleman is a sophomore in college, making him probably 19 or 20. Sure, that’s kind of young. But it’s not young enough to make it OK to call a 14-year-old girl a slut. Slut. Think about that word choice. What a dicknose.
Once the tweet went viral, he felt super bad that he was in trouble.
“An example that one stupid tweet can ruin someone’s life and I couldn’t be more sorry about my actions last night,” he said. “I please ask you to…Forgive me and truly understand that I am in no way shape or form a sexist, and I am a huge fan of Mo’ne. She was quite an inspiration.”
He is in “no way shape or form a sexist” the same way those Oklahoma frat douchebags were in no way, shape or form racists.
Bloomsburg knew better than to pretend an ultimately replaceable baseball player was remotely worth the PR hit they’d take by keeping him, so they did the right thing.
Bloomsburg Univ is deeply saddened by what was written about #MoneDavis by one of our student-athletes. His words do not represent us.

We take matter very seriously; addressed the issue with the student-athlete (who has been dismissed from team), coach, and the team.

In a display of just one thing that makes this young woman so special, Mo’ne Davis actually reached out to the university to forgive Casselberry and even ask for him to be reinstated. The school respected Davis’s maturity, but said “No, fuck that guy” (basically) and chose to stand firm in their decision.
Kudos to Mo’ne Davis who is more mature than any of us. And whatever the opposite of kudos is to Joey Casselberry. For the purpose of this conversation, the opposite of kudos is a penile-specific-flesh-eating virus.
