I’m sure Mindy Kaling is used to people coming up to her and offering her compliments, probably even slightly absurd compliments given the content of her shows, but this one is likely a first. While Kaling was at a bar with a writer for The New York Times an elderly man (described as tipsy in the article) walked up to the media power house and complimented her on her Nobel prize and marveled at how well she’d recovered from the gunshots. He thought she was Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai. Kaling, to her credit, had a great response to this, reportedly quipping “That’s the best thing that’s happened all night!”
