This week, actress Evan Rachel Wood named ex-boyfriend Brian Warner, a.k.a. singer Marilyn Manson, as her alleged former abuser. In a post on her Instagram page, she put a name to the allegations she has discussed publicly for several years, writing, ‘He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission.’ Following this revelation, several other women stepped forward with their own accusations. Manson has denied the claims, and this week, he was dropped by his record label.
Loma Vista Recordings said it would no longer be working with Manson and would cease promoting his latest album ‘effective immediately.’ Manson was also set to appear in the latest season of Starz’s American Gods, but the network revealed that they would remove his performance. Starz said that they ‘stand[s] unequivocally with all victims and survivors of abuse.’
Other women have come forward with allegations of abuse against Manson, the details of which are often deeply disturbing.
In a now-deleted post, Ashley Walters wrote that Manson, for whom she worked as a personal assistant, ‘frequently became violent’ and offered her up for sexual encounters with collaborators. Walters says she now struggles with depression and PTSD.
Gabriella, also known as the artist Sourgirrrl, posted her allegations on Instagram. She says that Warner repeatedly tied her up and sexually assaulted her, and took naked photos of her while she slept to send to his friends. She also alleges controlling behavior, including over her clothes, hair color, and who she talked to, and that he forced drugs into her mouth.
Model Sarah McNeilly said that Warner posed as ‘the perfect boyfriend’ and lured her in with ‘love bombing’ before revealing his true colors. She alleges that he threatened to bash my face in with the baseball bat he was holding, for trying to get him to pick out a pair of pants prior to a music video.’ McNeilly also says that she ‘witnessed him terrorize and abuse others in my presence. Slander his exes.’
Model Ashley Lindsay Morgan detailed Warner’s alleged abuse, drug use, and love of Nazi memorabilia, which he asked his Jewish girlfriend to procure for him. She also claims that ‘he is still doing this to a rotating door of young girls.’
Another of Warner’s exes, actress Rose McGowan, took to Twitter to express her support of Wood and ‘other brave woman who have come forward.’
I stand with Evan Rachel Wood and other brave women who have come forward. It takes years to recover from abuse and I send them strength on their journey to recovery. Let the truth be revealed. Let the healing begin.— Rose McGowan (@rosemcgowan) February 1, 2021
Manson has denied the allegations, calling them ‘horrible distortions of reality.’
