Lukas Gage is on a press tour for his recent movie Road House, but also for his recent divorce from the man he was very briefly married to, Chris Appleton.

Appleton, 40, is a hair stylist to the stars—Kim Kardashian most famously, who officiated the ceremony between Appleton and Gage. They first sparked dating rumors in February 2023, when Gage posted a since-deleted series of photos of the two of them in Mexico. Then in March, they attended a Vanity Fair Young Hollywood event together, but their relationship wasn’t officially confirmed until Appleton appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show later that month.

“I’m very happy,” he said. “Very much in love, and I feel very grateful to be able to share my time with someone very special. Love is a really special thing.”

Gage made similar statements on a TODAY show appearance: “I feel very happy, very lucky and very much in love. He’s a good-looking man. Something about being in London, I got a taste of the Brits and I couldn’t help myself.”

Sources close to the pair then reported they were engaged in April, saying, “Friends in their circle are definitely shocked at how quick it happened, but they’re happy for them. They seem like the real deal.” They appeared at an event together wearing what looked like matching wedding bands, and by the end of April they revealed the news of their marriage on Instagram in another since-deleted post, where they held hands and gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes, wearing matching fur coats, as Kim Kardashian officiated. Shania Twain was in attendance and delivered a performance of “You’re Still the One.”

Aaaaaand Appleton filed for divorce in November citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Earlier this month, Gage told PEOPLE he was doing “really good” following the split. “It’s been a year of learning, growing, changing—yeah, just constant change. Life’s always changing. Everything’s great,” he said.

But he was a little more honest with Andy Cohen during an episode of Watch What Happens Live this week, when he blamed getting married on a “mania” and referred to the time he spent with Appleton as “unhinged.”

“I had a manic episode for six months,” he told Cohen. “Literally, I don’t know what went through my head. I don’t know what happened. The fur coats were a horrible idea. I want to apologize to Shania Twain for wasting her time.” He then thanked Kardashian before apologizing to her as well, saying, “Kim’s great. She was really sweet to fly us all out and take care of us and pay for everything.”

But he then implied that he couldn’t reveal more as he’d signed a nondisclosure agreement, and then seemed to regret revealing that information.

We already know about the fur coats; what else could there possibly be to disclose?

That question may have been answered when Cohen asked if he at least got free hair styling out of the relationship, and Gage coyly admitted that his hair had “never looked worse.”
