Leslie Jones has written a memoir called “Leslie F*cking Jones”. Fantastic title, A+! The book hits shelves today. Yesterday, Rolling Stone published an excerpt in which Leslie writes about the horrific racism she had to endure while promoting the all-female Ghostbusters (2016). Other headline-making revelations include her thoughts on the Will Smith-Chris Rock slap (Chris “had to go to counseling with his daughters”), how Saturday Night Live wouldn’t let her kill Whoopi Goldberg in a Weekend Update bit, and the very sad admission that she was sexually abused by a babysitter as a toddler.

Leslie also writes about getting three abortions when she was younger. The comedian, now 56, reveals that she terminated her first pregnancy when she was 18 and dating a 27-year-old man named Richard Brooks. Their on-again, off-again relationship lasted “too many years”, and they did not use birth control.

Leslie blames this choice on a lack of sex education, via Page Six:

“My mom got sick early in my life and she wasn’t there to teach me about [sex education],” Jones writes, noting that her mother suffered a massive stroke when she was growing up and never recovered.

Leslie writes that she wishes she’d been taught how to prevent pregnancy, but she just “didn’t know any of that stuff.” But what she did know was that she had no interest in having a baby:

“All I felt was an urgency to not be pregnant. So, I had an abortion, and it was very hard,” she wrote. “I don’t want to say it was wrong, because to this day I would do the same thing.”

By her mid-twenties, Leslie had undergone three abortions and come to the realization the procedure was “not a birth control method.” She credits Planned Parenthood for finally giving her a proper sex education:

“When I went to Planned Parenthood, I finally learned how to prevent pregnancies and take care of myself. Thank God for those people and what they do.”

Leslie adds that she continues to donate money to the organization. As for Richard Brooks? They continued to date until 2010. Leslie eventually broke up with him for giving her an STD and getting someone else pregnant.

Here’s Leslie speaking out against Alabama’s abortion ban on SNL back in 2019:
