Voting third party is something many people have opinions on. From Edward Snowden trying to lull us into anarchy, to Susan Sarandon proudly proclaiming that she is not voting with her vagina and keeping that shitsploof of a saying alive a few days longer, third party voting is totes hip among the embittered em-Bernied and really fucking annoying to everyone else. Including Lena Dunham, who, in a now-deleted post, decided to explain it in the way only Lena Dunham and a Mario Lopez-hosted entertainment news show can: by being Extra.
I can't decide who is more absurd: Lena Dunham or Jill Stein. pic.twitter.com/ZXgu0wm74F— Sarah A. Harvard (@amyharvard_) November 6, 2016
“When I was 22 I fell in love with an older guy. He had a girlfriend but we still had sex, just often enough for me to think he loved me too. So I devised a plan: I would stay single until he was available. I would tough it out and be ready whenever. But after he and his girlfriend broke up, he got a different girlfriend. We kept having sex. Then he got a different girlfriend. We had sex slightly less often. He kept getting girlfriends, and I kept waiting, and it took me way too long to realize I was alone and only getting alone-er. That’s basically your vote for Jil Stein. Cuz she’ll be fine doing what she’s always done. And you’ll have Trump as president.”
Oh Leenyboo. What are you talking about.
I think Lena Dunham tries. Both tries in terms of at least attempting to understand her criticism and the things she’s done wrong (as opposed to Amy Schumer who just doubles down on her own bullshit) and tries, like, way too fucking hard just in general. Mostly that second thing. Jill Stein is a bucket of ignorables and all, but this comparison is…huh. Lena, just read He’s Just Not That Into You and hide your Notes app for a couple days. We’ll all get through this maybe.
