At SXSW this week, in one of those amazingly surreal experiences, I witnessed one of my favorite people and former Pajiba writer-turned senior writer at Vanity Fair moderate a panel with Rian Johnson, the director of The Last Jedi and Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself. It was insane, and she was amazing.
The panel, by the way, was designed to promote The Director and the Jedi, a documentary out in June about the making of The Last Jedi and Johnson and Hamill’s working relationship on the film. That is tangentially related to the director’s commentary of The Last Jedi, which was released along with the digital version of the film this week. In that director commentary, Johnson notes that Laura Dern — who has been nominated for two Oscars and six Emmys (winning one) — could not shoot a gun without saying “pew.”
There is even GIF evidence of this (I do not know if the director’s commentary offers actual sound):
"You can see Laura Dern say 'pew' when she fires the gun, which she could never not do every time she shot it." — Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi Commentary pic.twitter.com/Wkr803BQte

See? Laura Dern is a treasure.
