The Real-World Connection Between 'The Goldbergs' and 'iZombie' Is Freaking Us Out

This post is going to appeal to a very small subset of people who watch both The Goldbergs and iZombie AND who also did not watch the Disney Channel during the mid-aughts. I would imagine that the Venn Diagram is fairly small on those two shows, but when Lainey alerted us to this connection on our Slack, three of us were dumbfounded.

OK, here goes. You know Peyton Charles from iZombie, right? The actress who plays her is Aly Michalka.

Meanwhile, you know Lainey, Barry’s girlfriend on The Goldbergs?

The actress who plays here is … AJ Michalka.

They are sisters.

Yes, that’s Zac Efron.

In fact, AJ Michalka — who is a college freshman on The Goldbergs — is 26 (Aly is 29).

But wait: There’s more. In 2006, they were in a Disney movie, Cow Belles, together.

There’s more. The sisters are in a band together, Aly and AJ, and have been since 2004. They have two modestly successful albums, and even a single that hit No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Singles Sales.

And Aly (from iZombie) was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for her role in Easy A.
