Kristen Bell loves weed, she thinks it “rules.” I mean, you shouldn’t be surprised. Since California legalized recreational cannabis at the start of the year, the state has raked in $134 million dollars in tax revenue for the first half of 2018. That’s a lot of doobies, friends. Now, I can’t be 100% certain, but I’m fairly sure Kristen Bell doesn’t account solely for that revenue.
Bell was recently on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast and admitted to something shocking: she went to a Dave Matthews Band concert…oh, and she vapes pot and loves it, but I’m not sure that’s really shocking in 2018.
It’s a little weird that of all the takeaways from her episode on WTF, this is the thing everyone is picking up on, because Bell drops a lot of truth, such as:
— Publicly admitting to attending a DMB concert
— Ted Danson is the “best person” she knows
— She has a terrible memory, and can’t remember entire vacations she’s taken
— She doesn’t leave the phone ringer on while she’s working because she’s not a monster (Maron’s phone went off during the interview, you can draw your own conclusions there…)
— She has friends named “Ryan” and “Amy” who live in Sherman Oaks that she has game nights with
I mean, we can get hung up on the vaping pot part, or we could deep dive into who exactly Ryan and Amy are, and why do they live in Sherman Oaks?! Alas, that truth will need to be hidden for longer because casual pot use is much more interesting, apparently.
Bell is married to Dax Shepard, as you probably know (if not, I hope your mind is appropriately blown by this revelation.) He recently celebrated 14 years of sobriety, which Bell celebrated in an Instagram post:
Of course some people are hand-wringing over Bell’s cannabis use when she’s married to someone who’s 14-years sober, the HuffPost has a particularly judgmental headline with: “Kristen Bell Admits She Smokes Weed in Front of Sober Husband Dax Shepard.” According to Bell, her occasional pot use in front of her husband does not cause any issues in her marriage, nor does he have a problem with it. Seeing as how they’re both grown-ups who have been married since 2013, they (hopefully) love and respect each other enough to not do someone that would put the other in danger, and know each other’s limitations, but that won’t make you click headlines or hand-wring, so here we are!
Again, a deeper dive into why Ted Danson is “the best person she knows” would have been much more thrilling than the mundane, occasional use of pot, but this is the society we live in. That said, if you do have the inside scoop on Ted Danson, let us know. I’m itching to know.
You can listen to the entire episode, here. Her interview starts around the 19-minute mark.
