Katy Perry is the Petty Queen of My Heart

I’m sure one of the best things about being rich and famous is the amount of disposable income at your fingertips. Katy Perry put hers to good use over the weekend, when she outbid a fan, at the last minute, to win a date with her boyfriend Orlando Bloom.

Perry was the MC of the event, and she didn’t even let Laura, who was winning the bid for a motorcycle date with Orlando Bloom, respond — she simply put down an additional $30,000 and shut down the bidding.

“Laura, I’m sorry — I’m buying it for $50,000”

There’s a video posted on a Katy Perry fan account here, which is worth a watch, because you can basically see her become not okay with this whole ordeal toward the end, which cuts off right before the bidding and the dashed-hopes (of Laura)—

Katy Perry then does what any petty queen of my heart would do—let someone get their hopes up that they may get a date with her boyfriend, then dash them suddenly. I mean, why not?! It’s all for charity, right?

Perry is getting some flack online, saying her move was in poor taste. To that I say: Auction a date off with your significant other, and tell me how it feels.

If you have $50,000 to casually throw around, do it! Why not?! Again, it’s for charity! Flex enough so that Laura knows she’s got a fight on her hands if she wants to date your man-friend.

Now, I have never dated Orlando Bloom, so I’m going to have to stretch my imagination and pretend some. So, pretending I am dating him, I’m like, almost ninety percent sure I wouldn’t be cool with him going out with another person, even if it were for charity.

Katy Perry just did what we all wish we could, well, me at least. I enjoy harmless pettiness.

Although in this case, everyone wins— Orlando gets to give that motorcycle ride, the charity gets $50,000, and Katy gets to save “Laura” $20,000 from a motorcycle ride with Orlando Bloom, which is important because he’s crashed at least once, according to Wikipedia.

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to file this under: Christmas Miracle!
