Kate McKinnon stars alongside Mila Kunis in next month’s comedy, The Spy Who Dumped Me, which afforded her the opportunity to work with an idol of hers, as McKinnon told Cover Mag:
“I won’t say I was the world’s biggest X-Files fan because I have heard of X-Files fans that were more rabid than me, but I was near the top ten,” the Saturday Night Live star joked. “So when you meet someone who is a god in your childhood, it’s a very strange experience to suddenly be there working with them. She was professional and lovely.”
A strange experience, huh? Yeah, well, this is how Gillian Anderson describes that experience:

It’s worth recalling that Kate McKinnon once said that she realized she was gay while watching The X-Files. “I figured it out by watching The X-Files and noticing my physiological reaction to it. I thought it was a product of David Duchovny’s face but it was Gillian Anderson who still is the queen of my heart. So I knew then.”
The crush is longstanding, and McKinnon has the receipts to prove it.
I just realised Gillian Anderson is in The Spy Who Dumped Me when the trailer came on there and I think I got almost as excited as Kate McKinnon must be. That just adds a whole new layer to the excitement… pic.twitter.com/aCeM7VHiNR
