Few things in life are more devastating than losing a beloved pet. Back in June, Kate Beckinsale announced that her Persian cat, Clive, had passed away at age 19. She wrote, “My heart is absolutely and totally broken.” Woof. I mean, meow.
During the pandemic, Clive became a STAR on Instagram, thanks to his human-mother dressing him up in teeny tiny costumes (motorcycle bad boy, guitarist, Viking, etc). Kate even officiated a wedding between Clive and her other Persian, Willow. Alas, Willow is now a widow. And Kate’s Pomeranian pooch, Myf, has lost a dear friend.
Now that she’s had a couple months to grieve, 50-year-old Kate has taken to Instagram to debut two tattoos in honor of her late, great pussycat. Both were designed by celeb tattoo artist, Dr. Woo. The most recent one, which Kate debuted yesterday, sits right below her shoulder. It features a depiction of Clive’s furry eyes. Here it is:
Two weeks ago, Kate revealed her first tribute: a gorgeous portrait of Clive on her arm. In the caption, she wrote, “This has really helped.” Awww, I’m glad. Here’s the tattoo:
I can attest to the healing powers of a cat tattoo. When my Persian, Daisy, almost died due to a mysterious virus, I got a Picasso-style line tattoo of her grumpy little visage. But she lived! And when she finally passed a few years later, the presence of that tattoo really helped with the grieving process. It’s nice to know she will be with me forever.
But enough about my cat. This is about Clive! In celebration of his 19 years as the son of a celebrity, let’s take a look back at some of his cutest moments:
Good night, sweet Clive. I hope they have miniature costumes and silly hats in kitty heaven (or not… maybe you were just tolerating them for the sake of your momma).
