Jennifer Aniston is the Friend We (and Selena Gomez) Need in Troubled Times

Yesterday I put together a Breakup Guide for Ariana Grande and a few of you had the great idea to introduce her to Jennifer Aniston, and let her take over. Well, friends, that idea was great, but Jen is currently occupied mending Selena Gomez’s broken heart, so unfortunately Ariana will have to wait.

A source (other than People.com, believe it or not) is reporting that Jennifer has taken Selena under her wing, and is looking after her after Selena’s “emotional breakdown” following Justin Bieber’s engagement to Hailey Baldwin.

Selena has received an avalanche of support, as she is very well loved in Hollywood,” a Hollywood producer close to the Friends star EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com, adding that Jennifer “is one of her biggest champions.”

“She is very protective of Selena and has close ties to her because they share a manager,” the insider tells HollywoodLife.com. “Jennifer is an extremely caring person. It hurts her heart to know that Selena is struggling like this and she is absolutely there to offer advice and support. She sees Selena like a little sister and is doing all she can to help her.”

Jen and Selena met almost 9 years ago at the Cake premiere, and have kept in touch ever since. Now Selena gets to bask in the warm glow of Aniston’s all-knowing, all-seeing aura of post-breakup zen and find some way to let go of Justin Bieber (no judgment, I once dated a guy who insisted he brought the sport of “drifting” to America, who later broke up with me over text because he needed more time to work on his race car. The heart wants what the heart wants, people). Who among us mortals is better to coach any woman through a high-profile heartbreak than “He’s Missing a Sensitivity Chip” herself, Jennifer Aniston?

I hope that Selena is able to mend her broken heart under Jen’s tutelage and find a bit of relief during this time. I also hope that she does not rebound with Bieber when he inevitably ends up back on the market, because we all know that’s in the cards as well.

Selena, enjoy your respite in Casa Aniston. Take solace in the margs and guac that I imagine are always at the ready in Aniston’s home, and enjoy the $1,000 candles she inevitably burns throughout the place, day in and day out, that smell like what I imagine heaven to be. You deserve some rest. Don’t we all?
