Jennifer Aniston Had to Cancel a Scheduled Junket to Promote Her Oscar Nomination
Jennifer Aniston has been hustling the last few months to procure herself an Oscar nomination for her role in Cake, in which she “bravely” appears on camera without makeup. She’s been doing the rounds to promote the film (and herself), saying all the right things, and even wearing glasses in order to appear more Oscar-worthy.
Aniston must have thought that her Oscar campaign was working, too, because after her Golden Globe nomination, she was so sure of an Oscar nom that she actually scheduled a press junket at the Four Seasons hotel in order to discuss with the press her nomination.
Only thing is, that nomination never materialized.
As Gold Derby editor Tom O’Neil said, during his post-nominations discussion on YouTube, “It’s gotta be extremely sad right now in a couple rooms over in the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills because they had actually set up for tomorrow an actual junket interview [to discuss the nomination.”
As O’Neil explained further, Junket interviews for movies are not unusual, but “I’ve never before heard of a junket for a single star.”
They had a two-camera setup for her and the journalists, and O’Neill had actually been given a seven-minute double slot to discuss with Aniston her Oscar nom. Unfortunately for Aniston, the junket was cancelled after she wasn’t nominated.
