Janeane Garofalo Stans For Louis CK and It's Gross As Hell

If there’s a silver lining to the Louis CK situation, it’s that it’s been a reliable litmus test in determining which comedians are thoughtful, reflective human beings and which ones will lose their goddamn minds if you don’t see them punching down on a comedy stage and immediately think, “Oh my god, what an incredible defender of free speech and liberty. Please do me right here, right now TODAY.”

Sadly, Janeane Garofolo is in the latter camp, and she made that abundantly clear when she went to bat for CK on Bust.com’s Poptarts podcast. (I have no idea what the hell I just wrote.)

Via Vulture:

“When it comes to the #MeToo movement, I think it’s okay to question the source. It should transcend gender. It’s human rights. Cause if you don’t, anyone can be accused of anything at any time,” Garofalo said. “And if you’re not allowed to question that — I can say right now ‘I’ve got pictures of you molesting a child. Don’t question me!’ You know what I mean? Don’t question the questioner! Then it’s a Twilight Zone episode.

Wow, Jesus Christ. Apparently, Janeane is getting her talking points from Christian white ladies on Facebook who were absolutely terrified that the Brett Kavanaugh allegations meant that any random harlot could accuse their sweet, innocent angel boys of anything and their lives would be ruined. Which, as we know, is 100 percent not the case. In fact, right wing moron Jacob Wohl proved that theory wrong when his hilariously stupid plot to falsely accuse Robert Mueller of sexual harassment instantly blew up in his face.

Anyway, Janeane quickly pivoted to her next line of defense: Think of the children!

“Leave Louis C.K. alone. Enough with that. And again, there are so many issues we gotta be motivated on. He’s been my friend — and I stand by that — he’s been my friend since 1985, and I think he has suffered,” she said. “And when he performs at the Comedy Cellar and people get all irate, if nothing else, care about his daughters. If nothing else — if you can find no compassion for him, which I think you should — think about how his daughters, who hear all of this stuff, feel. Why don’t you leave him alone for them if you’re so women-empowering?”

Yes, think of the daughters. But only Louis CK’s daughters and not, oh I dunno, the daughters he jerked off in front of, which simultaneously crushed both their sense of well-being and careers. Those daughters don’t count.

To the host’s credit, all f**king hell broke loose when they pushed back on Garofalo who proceeded to argue that Louis CK is being bullied.

Yeah…

This is like talking about Israel. But I do believe when you’re a friend with someone, and if you think that they have suffered — I don’t believe in kicking a person when they’re down.

I mean, you can still be friends with someone but you can also still acknowledge what they did.

It’s not mutually exclusive. Did I say I didn’t acknowledge what they did? I’m just saying — and also, are there no other issues?

We can multitask…

But the thing is, why? Why? What is your stake in it that people wanna keep going back?

To let people know they can’t just rip their dick out in front of people because they can! That is the stake. When I …[crosstalk] …in a room and you have a bigger position than me, you don’t just get to wag your dick at me because you can.

Okay, first of all, that’s not what he did. And also, you weren’t there … This is so unfair, because it’s another thing where people get bullied.

Just so we’re clear. That was Janeane Garofalo flat-out denying that Louis CK masturbated in front of his victims without their consent, which he admitted to in his “apology” albeit with enough weasel words to make it sound like they maybe, kinda wanted him to jerk off in front of them? (They really did not.) Granted, maybe she said those words in haste, but that haste came from being angry that someone might actually want famous men to start living in fear of randomly beating off in front of women.

Why in the possible hell would Janeane Garofalo be against that?
