Who doesn’t love James McAvoy? Talented, handsome, award-winning, endlessly calling out the bullsh*t class ceiling that is poisoning the British acting world, and one of a handful of things making the depressingly meh His Dark Materials show watchable. I have fond memories of seeing The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe in the cinema and hearing the audible coos and sighs of the audience when he turned up as Mr. Tumnus. And lo, a new generation of furries was born.

Nowadays, McAvoy is busy promoting a new film, My Son, which also stars Claire Foy and fellow Scot Gary ‘Billy Elliott’s dad’ Lewis. That means he’s doing a lot of Zoom interviews and socially distanced shenanigans. So, of course, Buzzfeed came a-running to conduct a new cycle of thirst tweets.

The thirst tweet journey is a perilous one for many a celebrity. It’s obviously kind of embarrassing to read the shameless hunger and sexual weirdness of the internet, especially when it’s directed at yourself. Some celebs are clearly mortified by the experience. Others are happy to go along with it. Mostly, we just have a lot of bemused straight guys asking what a ‘bussy’ is. Boys, parse it out in your head…

McAvoy seems a bit baffled but mostly entertained. There are plenty of comments about his lovely accents, his appearance on the celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off, and his posterior. He’s good with the smut. He’s Glaswegian. He’s definitely heard a lot worse in his lifetime.

Want to revel in the McAvoy thirst for a bit longer? We’ve got you covered.

You’re welcome.
