I’ve never actually watched a single episode of The Late Late Show, but James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” episodes are endlessly entertaining. Thus far, his rides with Adele and Elton John were musically and costuming best in show winners, but this latest round with Aussie singer Sia is the best of both worlds, powerhouse vocals and brilliant costuming, goofiness, and egg tricks? Yes, egg tricks. Well, that and something she says about aliens that may haunt me forever.
Buckle in for an extremely entertaining ride.
Corden had to first round up Sia to get her into the car, what with that face-covering wig impeding her vision.
After a Chandelier duet, the singer explained she wears things to hide her face — only when cameras are around — “to maintain a modicum of privacy.” Answering Corden’s query, Sia explained she’s been an alcoholic and drug addict, then sobered up when she was starting to get a little bit famous, and felt that was “destabilizing.”
In between belting out hits, Corden mentioned that Sia believes in aliens and asked her to explain why. This is when, like Sia, my blood also ran cold, and if you’re a conspiracy theorist hold on to your tin hat.
Of course, Corden had to try the wig thing.
But, by far the most bizarre thing — and that’s saying a lot — was when Corden tested out something else he’d heard about Sia; that she could hold a dozen eggs atop her hands.
Er, what were they saying about aliens, again?
