In several late-night tweets, which have since been deleted, Roseanne Barr seemed to blame Ambien for her racist tweets.
“It was 2 in the morning and I was Ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but…don’t defend it please.”
Twitter had a good time with that:

Things I’ve done on Ambien:
— Clue Heywood (@ClueHeywood) May 30, 2018
1. Peed my pants at a Circle K
2. Got blocked by Blues Traveler
Things I haven’t done on Ambien:
1. Tanked my 90’s sitcom reboot by comparing a black person to an ape on Twitter
Who among us hasn’t taken Ambien, sleepwalked down to the fridge, and posted dozens of racist tweets over several years

When you are awake at 4:30 in the morning for no GD reason and you check Twitter to find that (on the day you need her most) your good pal Ambien is being dragged through the mud pic.twitter.com/Uw7OB4ZYy1

She also apologized to Valerie Jarret.
@ValerieJarrett i don't know if u saw it, but I wanted2 apologize to u 4 hurting and upsetting u with an insensitive & tasteless tweet. I am truly sorry-my whole life has been about fighting racism. I made a terrible mistake wh caused hundreds of ppl 2 lose their jobs. so sorry!

But that’s Roseanne talking out of one side of her mouth. Out of the other side of her mouth, she claims — through retweets — that there was no racist intent in the tweet because she didn’t know that Jarret was black. She’s also retweeted several tweets attacking ABC, like this one:
Meet #ChanningDungey
— Carrie â¤ï¸ America 🤠is Tommy Robinson 💔 (@carrieksada_) May 29, 2018
She tolerates misbehavior, vulgarity, profanity, threats of murder to our POTUS, and Weinstein behavior, amongst her employees, but if you are a conservative and misbehave,
well dammit you’re fired! #RosanneBarr #1A pic.twitter.com/xdL4ytoKS9
And this one:
(4) Roseanne said, "I cost all those people their jobs."
— Thomas Wictor (@ThomasWictor) May 30, 2018
No she didn't.@ABCNetwork cost them their jobs.
She also dragged Sara Gilbert through these retweets:
OMG. I can't believe this bs! She knows Roseanne is not racist.
— Lovemypresident (@Justice4Kennedy) May 30, 2018
And she continues to suggest that George Soros is a Nazi sympathizer, an assertion that should have gotten her fired all by itself.
She retweeted this:
Why is Soros on video acknowledging he worked with his Nazi-Uncle to round up Jewish people? It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. It's on VIDEO. https://t.co/1SIYSr531b

And this:
He admitted 2 stealing jewelry from the Jews as they were being taken into custody he has no remorse hes even said so I dont understand this guy n anyone who sticks up for him deserves the backlash that Roseanne is getting but no give it 2 the sacrificial conservative celebrity

None of this is true, and it’s a maddening form of Holocaust denial that she’s been engaging in for months, if not years.
For the record, when George Soros was 14 years old, his father arranged for Soros to stay with a Hungarian official for several weeks to save him from the Nazis. During the course of that time, on one occasion, Soros accompanied that official as he confiscated property from deported Jews, because part of the cruelty of the Holocaust involved Nazis compelling powerless Jews to act against each other.
More recently, in a 60 Minutes interview, Soros basically said that he didn’t feel any personal guilt over those events because he was a 14-year-old passive actor in a situation that was out of his control. Barr and other conspiracy peddlers have twisted those words and concluded that Soros — a Holocaust survivor — must be a Nazi sympathizer. As Haaretz notes, Barr’s conspiracy theory is basically a form of victim blaming:
The problem with the “Soros as Nazi collaborator” falsehood is that, however inadvertently, it corresponds with a form of Holocaust denial that removes agency for the genocide from the Nazis and places it with their Jewish victims. “Attempts to blame the Jews for causing their own genocide” is classified as one form of denial by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
The fact that Barr was even hired after victim blaming Jews for the Holocaust — something she’s been peddling for a long time — is absolutely ridiculous, and just because she’s Jewish and pro-Israel does not give her a pass on either that or the Nazi/Cookie photos.
