Happy Mother’s Day to all!! What a rewarding, challenging and wonderful thing it is to be a mother. I always knew I wanted to be a mother. It really has fulfilled my life in ways I only dreamed of. That true love and bond of mother and child, and the gift of creating a life from the love and joining of two people. I pulled the short stick in the mother department personally, and I know there are many others out there who grew up in similar situations. Who’s first life lessons were how not to be a mother. And boy, did I learn some lessons. But the reality is, it doesn’t matter what situation you grew up in, it doesn’t dictate who you will become. You dictate your path. You do not have to be a product of your environment when you know that environment is toxic. I have done many things quite opposite to that, and thank god, I know my path is in the right direction. This is a picture of me preggo with my second baby Orion, the night before he was born. I love being a mom. And I wish the best to all mothers out there… ✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨🌈✨ P. S. I have been asked why I tattooed my whole side, and how painful was it to get it done there. Well, a little secret, I kind of cheated… I’ve been numb on the entire right side of my torso since I was 13 from my spinal issues, so it didn’t hurt at all at all 😂 To me it was the perfect place to get a beautiful large tattoo! #lookatthebrightside #happymothersday #onwardandupward #bethebestmamayoucanbe #babybelly #38weeks #2016

I am raising women who are not afraid to disagree. Not for disagreements sake, but rather to use their voice when they need to. To not be afraid to speak up and be clear when they have something valuable to add. To participate. To lean in. To be insightful and lead with kindness. To use their gut and ethics to make decisions that sometimes fall outside the lines or buck the system. To be, as @adamgrant says "a disagreeable giver who challenges the status quo in order to improve it." A few weeks ago I bought them RBG dissent collars. (Mainly so I could know when they are feeling particularly disagreeable, they'd put it on in the morning so I'd have a heads up). Now they wear them with pride, like strong females who know when they can add their point of view, with confidence. I'm very proud to be a mother to these two. Thank you @daxshepard for being the magic ingredient to their recipe. I'm forever grateful. Happy mothers day to all the moms out their with disagreeable kids. We are gonna be so grateful for their confidence the day they start to run the world.

Dear Mama, I am thankful for every part of you and every second I share with you. Thank you for giving me life and thank you for expanding my consciousness. I would not have been able to do any of what I’ve done in my life without your strength, your wisdom and your prayers. My biggest goal in life is for my children to feel the love you make us all feel. I appreciate you and thank you with every ounce of admiration and respect. To anyone reading, please thank and appreciate your mom today and everyday. I’m sending all my love and positivity to anyone missing their angel moms today. I love y’all deep. Gang gang gang gang 🥰 and thank you for all the Mother’s Day wishes. Sending Big Texas hugs, Mama B🐝

Happy mothers day to my mom who encouraged me to be creative and tell my stories and read and write and eat salad and love nature and be silly and value family and love travel and languages and foods. A public school teacher who worked her way to a phd! Poly lingual speaking spanish, french, italian fluently and a few more which I am absolutely jealous of - I hear her voice in my head all through this pandemic: “put your dishes away dont just leave them in the sink…. turn the light off when you leave a room… do something creative with your son, etc” Amazing how so many of the lessons really do stick in your head. Gonna hold onto that bc my son doesn’t listen to shit I say but maybe he’ll remember it later 😂

(2/2) My mom didn’t care about cursing. Thought it was irrelevant, well, bullshit. So, as long as I can remember I was allowed to curse with abandon. When my friends would come over—and we’re talking 9 year olds—they'd greet her with a double bird and a “Hey Anne! Fuck you!” to which she’d reply “Eat shit you little assholes!” Needless to say they loved her, and she was forever the ultimate Cool Mom. Of course as a teenager I needed to pull away and forge an identity where my mom wasn’t the lens through which I saw the whole world. But she was, and is. Everything I see and hear and feel is through that lens. That is how I carry her with me now that she’s gone. She gave me the world, and now I look at it with her eyes, and feel her in my heart. It’s cold comfort but I’m glad she went before we all had to hide away in our houses and apartments. Not being able to visit her, to hold her hand would have been unbearable. Not being able to tell her about her grandkids’ latest adventures, to kiss her on the forehead before I leave as if to say thank you, I love you, I’m not full of shit.
