You can argue that ABC knew what it was getting into when they hired Roseanne in the first place and refuse to give them props for canceling the show, or you can celebrate the fact that they took a principled stand and gave up a lot of money by firing their biggest star. Either way, I’m calling the cancellation of Roseanne a victory.
Here’s how some of the higher-ups on the show reacted on Twitter:
Disney’s CEO:
Disney CEO Bob Iger on #Roseanne cancellation: "There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.” https://t.co/YZRu0mG5qr pic.twitter.com/Y7pkx2tA5v

Here’s the showrunner:
#Roseanne showrunner Bruce Helford: "I was personally horrified and saddened by the comments and in no way do they reflect the values of the people who worked so hard to make this the iconic show that it is.” https://t.co/YZRu0mG5qr pic.twitter.com/2rAfoiPXRj

Roseanne’s agent also dropped her:
ICM joins in. "We are all greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable tweet from Roseanne Barr this morning. What she wrote is antithetical to our core values, both as individuals and as an agency. Consequently, we have notified her that we will not represent her."

Here’s Sara Gilbert:
This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.

Here’s Emma Kemmey, who plays Darlene’s daughter on the show (and is on Shameless, which is what Roseanne wishes it could be):
As I called my manager to quit working on Roseanne, I was told it was cancelled. I feel so empowered by @iamwandasykes , Channing Dungey and anyone at ABC standing up for morals and abuse of power. Bullies will NEVER win.
— Emma Kenney (@EmmaRoseKenney) May 29, 2018
And here’s the rest of Hollywood reacting:
I'm glad Roseanne is canceled.

The backlash to its cancellation is going to be a deafening nightmare.
Nothing good has come of this entire thing.
@therealroseanne, you break my heart — You are a sorry excuse for a human being. How odd that you, as a comedienne, have forgotten then meaning of a "joke" and a personal comment. Your meanness is staggering and will earn you a ticket to a sad, lonely and sorry life.

Thank you, Channing. #justice

ABC cancelled Roseanne after her racist tweet!
— Dana Goldberg (@DGComedy) May 29, 2018
Roseanne, that entire cast supported you when you didn’t deserve support because they believed in the art of the show.
You alone are responsible for the loss of their jobs.
I wish some of these so-called defenders of liberty would start to understand what freedom of speech is AND isn’t. Roseanne is allowed to say whatever she wants. It doesn’t mean @ABCNetwork needs to continue funding her TV show if her words are considered abhorrent. https://t.co/lSx2GndLEO

The left didn’t cancel “Roseanne”.
— andy lassner (@andylassner) May 29, 2018
Decency did.
B) The reality is, ABC, like anyone with the ability to see, hear, and read, knew who Roseanne was when they gave her this show. They wanted to get a piece of Trump/conservative world business. So I'm not going to heap praise on Bob Iger or anyone else at the network
