Last Thursday, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after serving seven years for the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddinnea “Dee Dee” Blanchard. The 32-year-old parolee was picked up by her husband of a year-and-a-half, Ryan Scott Anderson. He’s a teacher from Louisiana.

Gypsy Rose served her time in Missouri’s Chillicothe Correctional Center. For her first free weekend, the plan was to go to a Kansas City Chiefs game and hopefully run into Taylor Swift. TMZ reported that Gypsy Rose was “determined” to meet the singer, who frequents Chiefs games to support boyfriend Travis Kelce. Apparently, Taylor’s song “Eyes Open” helped Gypsy Rose deal with the trauma from her mom’s abuse. When she was locked up, she mainly used her commissary money to buy Taylor’s albums.

Unfortunately, the Taylor plans were dashed by local law enforcement officials. They thought Gypsy Rose posed a “security risk” due to her celebrity and ordered her to get out of Missouri ASAP. On Saturday, she and her husband complied; they left the state for his their home in Louisiana. Gypsy Rose was actually born in Louisiana, and her father, Rod Blanchard, his wife, and their two kids still live there. A family reunited!

TMZ says Gypsy Rose was “bummed” about getting kicked out of Missouri. She and Ryan bought their Chiefs tickets months ago. But she “gets it” and understands her Taylor Swift plan was a “long shot” to begin with. She’s planning on seeing Taylor in October, when the singer brings her Eras tour to New Orleans.

In the meantime, Gypsy Rose is building her social media presence. A few days ago, she posted the header pic to Instagram with the caption, “First selfie of freedom!” Since then, there’s been more selfies, pics from a welcome home party with her family, and this New Year’s Eve kiss with her husband. In the caption, Gypsy Rose tells followers they can “watch how our love story began” in her upcoming Lifetime docuseries, the The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard (the doc’s camera crew accompanied Ryan when he picked her up from prison):

And look, she’s also on TikTok:

For those who didn’t watch Mommy Dead and Dearest, The Act, or that Lifetime movie starring Marcia Gay Harden, Dee Dee (likely) had Munchausen by proxy. She forced Gypsy Rose to pretend to be disabled and chronically ill, subjected her to unnecessary surgeries and medications, and physically and psychologically abused her.

In 2015, then-23-year-old Gypsy Rose arranged for her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill Dee Dee so that she could escape. A couple of days after the murder, Gypsy Rose and Nicholas were arrested. Gypsy Rose was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison for second-degree murder, and Nicholas got life without parole for first-degree murder.

The comments on Gypsy Rose’s social media posts are mainly supportive. On one selfie, an Instagram user writes, “She may be out of prison but she’s still serving 24/7.” Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira even complimented her “fresh set” of nails. Still, some people are confused as to why Gypsy Rose’s release is being celebrated: “Why are people so happy about this? She helped murder someone.” Forget it, random Instagram user. It’s Gypsy Rose.
