Fired Over Sexual Harassment Claims, Andy Dick Doubles Down

After decades of ignoring bad and even criminal behavior, Hollywood seems to finally be saying “enough is enough” when it comes to sexual harassment and abuse. In the wake of the Weinstein scandal, heads are rolling for the likes of Mark Halperin, Chris Savino, Roy Price, and now Andy Dick.

THR reports that the comic actor notorious for outlandish behavior was fired from the set of the indie feature Raising Buchanan over complaints against him that included, “groping people’s genitals, unwanted kissing/licking and sexual propositions of at least four members of the production.” Reached for comment, Dick told THR, “My middle name is ‘misconduct.’ They know what they signed up for.” Reporter Chris Gardner notes the actor was “joking,” here. But Dick’s other attempts at defense are all as astonishingly horrid.

“I didn’t grope anybody,” Dick said. “I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing — I licked Carrie Fisher at a roast. It’s me being funny. I’m not trying to sexually harass people.”

Unsurprisingly, his insistence that the problem is not him but everyone else becomes a recurring theme in his defense. Recognizing his long history of seedy headlines, Dick said, “I don’t grope people anymore. I don’t expose myself anymore,” then added, “I do understand that the temperature in the world right now is delicate.” Because it’s the world that has the problem, not the jackass who admits to licking co-workers.

THR listed other unprofessional behavior Dick reportedly displayed on set. But the former News Radio star believes the real reason he was canned was because he defended Harvey Weinstein when the allegations were being discussed between takes. “They were so incensed by what I was saying,” he marveled, “People are so sensitive.” Uh huh. People are so sensitive when more than 80 women come forward with harrowing stories of rape, assault, bullying and abuse of power.

Then Dick took a cue from Kevin Spacey, attempting to spin the story of abuse accusations into one about his personal life. “Of course I’m going to proposition people. I’m single, depressed, lonely and trying to get a date,” and “I’m always trying to be funny and trying to get a date. I still don’t have a date. I am on Tinder and I’m looking.”

Next Dick pulled a Weinstein, claiming that because he’s 51, he just doesn’t know HOW to behave in this crazy mixed up world of super sensitive snowflakes who don’t want their genitals grabbed by an obnoxious has-been. “I don’t know the difference between sexual harassment and trying to get a date,” Dick said. “In the ’70s, all the girlfriends I got was by kissing and licking their cheek. I don’t know anymore.”

Don’t you, Dick? Okay. Here are some helpful tips for future employment: Keep your Andy in your pants, your hands and tongue to yourself. Assume that everyone around you may not want the slobber of C-list celeb on their face. Understand that your workplace is not a night club where everyone’s looking to hook-up. And when it comes to playing Devil’s Advocate for Harvey Weinstein, just fucking don’t.
