BREAKING NEWS: Famous White Guy Speaks to #MeToo Movement, Manages Not to Say Anything Terrible

As a white dude praising another white dude for finally saying the right thing when it comes to white dudes, I feel like I’m writing myself into a #NotAllMen trap here, but it’s just such a relief when a white guy is asked about the #MeToo movement and he manages not to Matt Damon himself. I’m not saying that Christian Bale should be sainted for saying the right thing here, but when guys like Damon, Affleck, Piers Morgan, or even Ian McKellen continue to stick their fucking feet in their mouths, it’s at least noteworthy when an A-lister says something that doesn’t make you want to throw them out of the window.

“Our culture will be so much richer the day that we stop saying, ‘Hey, it’s all white dudes who are running things,’” Bale said. “Whether that be Hollywood, whether that be Washington, you know. We’re going to get, in Hollywood, so much better films and so much more interesting stories being told and America will become the America that the rest of the world sees it as, that makes it unique.”

Wait, what? Did a white dude just say that things would be better off if we had fewer white dudes running things?

America is “such a beautiful, brilliant country,” and a place he feels has so much potential to inspire that, “It’s the reason I moved here. It’s the reason my kids have American accents.”

I’m not saying that Christian Bale should get a lollipop for saying the right thing, but hey! At least a famous white guy opened his mouth and we don’t have to drag him for it. That’s practically newsworthy.
