In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Emma Stone reminds us that no matter how far an actress has ascended, she is still an ac-TRESS and that rhymes with “less” and Hollywood is its own patriarchal bubble and everything sucks. Hoorah.

When you’re a woman in any profession, there is this one common experience that binds us all: the experience of suggesting an idea or change, and being treated as an annoyance. Emma Stone is no exception. Nor is she excepted from the also common experience of coming up with a great idea and having it given to a male co-worker.

“There are times in the past, making a movie, when I’ve been told that I’m hindering the process by bringing up an opinion or an idea,” Stone says. “I hesitate to make it about being a woman, but there have been times when I’ve improvised, they’ve laughed at my joke and then given it to my male co-star. Given my joke away. Or it’s been me saying, ‘I really don’t think this line is gonna work,’ and being told, ‘Just say it, just say it, if it doesn’t work we’ll cut it out’ - and they didn’t cut it out, and it really didn’t work!’” (Stone goes off-the-record before elaborating further.)

Oh man do I want that off-the-record elaboration so I know who to add to my hate list.
