We all know Dolly Parton is a national treasure. She is a symbol of love so radiant, some suggest she should replace symbols of hate. She’s used her platform and privilege to speak out for Black Lives Matter. She’s a singer so powerful she can move a funnyman to tears. She’s spent 2020 crafting music, movies, and TV that brings heartache, hope, and humor. Now, she’s helping battle the coronavirus in a major way.
While some idiotic bands have contributed to the spread through concerts, Parton donated one million dollars to coronavirus vaccine research. Specifically, The Guardian notes that she kicked funds to Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology and Inflammation at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. This institute developed the Moderna vaccine, which is currently proving 95% effective.
Between the great news of a promising vaccine and the fact that people rightly love Dolly Parton, there’s been much rejoicing on Twitter. Here’s a sampling:

Apparently, Dolly Parton donated $1 million dollars to scientists for a COVID vaccine — which means she did more end the pandemic than Donald Trump. https://t.co/Jn2rbc8gAN
