Last week, we covered British TV personality Piers Morgan and his virulent transphobia, which he ghoulishly spreads on Good Morning Britain and Twitter. This weekend, he was at it again, tweeting an attempt at a joke that dared to bring American TV legend and Mary Poppins star Dick Van Dyke into his bigoted bullshit.

This is classic Piers. It’s his starf*ckery on full display, as if having his photo taken with a famous person means he’s superior to his audience. It’s his lamentation over how liberals are all whiny, rapacious snowflakes with ridiculous standards. It’s a snitty declaration about how the real problem in the world isn’t bigotry—the kind promoted by his BFF Donald Trump—but rather PC culture that has us getting all in a tizzy when someone says anything, like how trans children are a “farce” or a “contagion.” And it’s a joke so pathetic that Morgan makes Mike Huckabee look like Chris Rock.

Despite this being a total trash tweet, Morgan hasn’t been ratio-ed for it. His tweet boasts over 2000 likes to just 600 comments. However, this particular tweet only needed one reply.

Dick Van Dyke responded to Morgan’s latest attack on the trans community by making himself a meme to mock this horrid comment. And that reply has over 38,000 likes and 750 comments, many of which are wild excitement for The Dick Van Dyke star slamming the festering transphobe, who can’t hold a candle to him.

Here is just a brief selection of the responses Van Dyke received:

And if you feel like Van Dyke’s response wasn’t a strong enough denouncement of Morgan using his name to push a transphobic agenda, there are three more things to consider. In the midst of promoting his appearance in Mary Poppins Returns, the man who gave us childhood crushes on chimney sweeps made this his pinned tweet.

And check out his Avatar.

His header image is also from a photo shoot he did for No H8, a charity organization that promotes LGBT+ rights through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

So to recap: Piers Morgan chose World AIDS Day to once more decry and mock the trans community, and to bolster this supposed point he invoked the name of a 92-year-old TV icon. In response, the living legend who is Dick Van Dyke schooled Morgan on comedy and on social politics, with a response that was short, sassy, and gave the transphobe’s remark all the consideration it deserved.
