David Tennant is a busy, beloved, sexy man. In-between starring in every British TV series, ragging on Michael Sheen, and getting Olivier nominations, he’s found time to promote the second season of Amazon’s Good Omens. He’s out there doing the work, and we thank him for it. Recently, he was seen wearing a delightful t-shirt that declared, ‘Leave trans kids alone you absolute freaks.’

Absolute king shit right there.

Eagle-eyed readers will also note that Tennant is wearing a non-binary rainbow pin, one he’s worn for a while now. One of his children is non-binary and he and his wife Georgia have repeatedly expressed their love and support. See, TERF Island, it’s that easy.

As you can imagine, the residents of this hellish landscape reacted in totally normal ways to this.

Ha.

I won’t share all of the transphobia because none of us have the time or inclination to deal with such vomit, but it should surprise literally none of you that professional transphobe, former ‘comedy’ writer, and the second most-divorced man on Twitter, Graham Linehan, shit the bed at this news.


You know the best way to demonstrate your love and concern for kids? By posting images of them without permission and setting them up as victims of grooming. Super okay, right? And yes, he referred to DAVID FUCKING TENNANT as a groomer. Enjoy your libel suit, Glinner.

I know how to win people over to your bigoted cause: attack one of the most beloved celebrities in the entire country. Yup, because we all know how much Brits just hate Doctor Who. Sure, make your new public enemy the lovely Paisley boy who does nothing but make people happy and mind his own business. Publicly accusing the millionaire parent of a non-binary kid of grooming and child abuse is nothing but a huge profit opportunity.

I imagine Tennant doesn’t desire to take away the final £3.21 and mouldy sock drawer that Linehan has left after his family left him and he became so unemployable that even all the other transphobes in British media avoid him. Still, don’t be surprised if his lawyers start taking screenshots.

This is all, of course, part of the transphobic hate movement’s alt-right tactics of pretending that anyone who disagrees with them is literally a paedophile. It’s all part of the same cycle of historical bigotry that brought us Section 28, Reagan’s inaction over the AIDS crisis, and the Anita Bryant crusades against queer teachers. Scratch the skin of any transphobe and you’ll just find a garden variety homophobe who is opening the doors for a bunch of Nazis to goose-step through. Calling them ‘absolute freaks’ is as accurate as we can get. It does mean a lot to see a celebrity of Tennant’s stature standing against such dog-whistles, especially since being a transphobic cry-baby seems to be the default mode for British celebrities these days.
