Earlier this month, I detailed how David O. Russell transformed a true story about an incredibly inventive and industrious working mother into a mind-melting mansplanation about how us womens need to learn to rise above our gender. Vivian has reported, repeatedly on how Jennifer Lawrence is somehow convinced it’s a compliment and not insulting that Russell calls her a “he” because the guy’s so impressed by her. And now he’s given us this incredible visual metaphor.

If you’re curious about the bizarre story behind the scene’s of Joy’s creation, I recommend this illuminating Vanity Fair piece that reveals—among other things—the film’s most two-dimensional and irrational female character was a complete fabrication by Russell.
Kristy Puchko can’t even sometimes.
