For the past couple of weeks, the Byline Times has been publishing an exceedingly detailed series of reports relating to GB News host and all-around hack bully Dan Wootton. The accusations include claims that Wootton used fake online identities to blackmail various individuals into sending him sexually explicit images. The allegations are numerous and damning, and the Byline Times just published part seven of their investigation, which includes ‘the internet data leaks that tie the TV presenter to the online aliases he has not denied being connected to.’ The wider press has been notably much quieter on this story than they were for similar media scandals like those of Huw Edwards and Phillip Schofield. Wootton is still appearing on GB News, the UK version of Fox News that looks like it’s shot in some guy’s mother’s garage, and has claimed that he’s the victim of nefarious forces trying to oust him. It’s almost like the right-wing moral arbiters of culture at large are pants-wetting hypocrites or something.
Well, now he’s facing a modicum of accountability, as BBC News reported that the MailOnline has paused Wootton’s column for the site while it considers the ‘series of allegations’ against him. This comes after The Sun, Wootton’s previous employer, made a statement saying they were looking into those allegations. DMG Media, the publisher of MailOnline, released a statement, saying, ‘The allegations are obviously serious but also complex and historic and there is an independent investigation underway at the media group which employed him during the relevant period. In the meantime, his freelance column with MailOnline has been paused.’
Wootton is still on GB News ranting about Meghan Markle, by the way, in case you thought he’d have a moment of self-realization and decide to not be a poisonous ghoul. Oh, and his regular guests include Megyn Kelly and Steve Bannon. At least Satan has better taste than to go on Wootton’s show.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I think Wootton is a worm. He’s a parasite of the worst kind, a giddily cruel little boy who offers nothing important or worthy to the planet. His only job is to hate and he’s done it for a long time with massive financial rewards for his hardships. He’s merely the most toxic example of the rot at the black heart of British media. That his bosses are so hesitant to investigate a series of highly credible accusations against him is yet another reminder that there’s no such thing as cancel culture in this sphere. There are only deeper depths to sink to in the name of profit and hate.
Karma, please hurry up with this toad.
