While the World was Distracted, Christie Brinkley Made a Blood Pact with Lucifer

The 1980s were a wonderful time. Saturday morning cartoons will never be the caliber of which they were during this time, bedhead was an acceptable hairstyle, our very own Steven Lloyd Wilson was fashionable in his zubaz, and Tawny Kitaen was setting off car alarms all over the goddamned place.

It was also the height of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model. And one, in particular, would prove to stand the test of time like some sort of time lord. I’m talking about a certain all-American girl-next-door from Monroe, Michigan. I’m talking about the goddess Christie Brinkley:

Yep, the ’80s were a time when even a perpetual bummed-out-faced Billy Joel could marry the goddamned ray of sunshine that is Brinkley.

But then the ’90s rolled around and the supermodel industry started to prefer a grungy type of fashion and waif thin models to showcase them. The supermodels of the ’80s retreated into their lairs and started to use their names for products at department stores and Wal-Marts all across America.

Not Christie Brinkley, though. She had a daughter with Joel, Alexa Ray, then the couple divorced in 1994. She would remarry in 1996 and have two more children, Sailor and Jack. She started to get more media attention from her 2008 divorce from architect Peter Cook, but I think it’s because of other reasons. Mainly, she was 57 and looked. like. THIS:

Well, now my poor feeble brain can barely comprehend simple words let alone mouth sounds to bring you this news. Christie Brinkley celebrated her SIXTY-THIRD birthday on February 2nd and you wanna know what she did? SHE DID SPORTS ILLUSTRATED AGAIN. This time, with her daughters Alexa Ray and Sailor. And GOOD. GOD. DAMN. She’s really tipping my position on the Kinsey scale.

For comparison, Alexa is 31 and Sailor is 18. Brinkley said in an interview with Sports Illustrated:

This is a real full circle moment for me. I can get very emotional about this. How many years ago, I was that insecure girl hoping that I would be good enough for the magazine. So to see my daughters now having the same thoughts I had, and to be able to see them actually be there on the job, was definitely a big moment.

Christie, who appeared in the magazine eight times between 1975-2004, is best known for her record three consecutive SI Swimsuit covers in 1979, 1980 and 1981.
