Here are just a couple of tips on how to have the greatest wedding story of the year, courtesy of one impossibly awesome couple:
1. Attend a book reading event of one of your favorite authors. If possible, have it be hosted by another one of your favorite authors/actors/awesome people.
2. Make sure you get a good spot in line for the Q & A.
3. Be sure your favorite author is ordained, and just so happens to have their credentials on them.
4. Bring along a marriage certificate.
I don’t know if we could all be as lucky (or crafty) as these two women who followed these steps at an event in Pasadena, California for Carrie Browntein’s new book, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl: A Memoir, and ended up getting Brownstein to marry them while Amy Poehler played Greensleeves.
Apparently the two had heard Brownstein was an ordained minister, and when they asked her to marry them on the spot, Poehler was so excited she shouted “You gotta do it!” Brownstein took a minute to compose some stuff, came back, and married the two. And it was goddamned beautiful.
