Can You Recognize This Famous Actor From the Photoshopped-to-Death Poster For a Bonkers Garbage Movie?

I’ll never understand why movies that cast celebrities and give them giant paychecks, presumably to use their well-known face to draw audiences, will then go and photoshop said celebrity’s face into unrecognizable oblivion on the promotional materials.

Our own Kristy forwarded the rest of us one of these oblivionized promos earlier today, and I swear I spent a few full minutes staring at the thumbnail trying to figure out who this actor was. Can you tell from just the thumbnail? Hailee Steinfeld’s face looks messed with, but at least recognizable. You’d think her way-more-famous costar should be as well.

Can you tell who that is? The Pajiba writers ha some fun guessing. Is it Tom Jane? Owen Wilson with a salt & pepper dye job? A haggard Harry Connick, Jr? Even full-sized, it’s hard to tell.

Have you got it?

It’s the photoshop-mangled face of Vince Vaughn!

The crazy part is that this shit show of a poster is actually the least strange thing about this movie. Does the title Term Life make it sound like a movie about an insurance policy? Well, that’s exactly what it is.

A thief (Vaughn) who plans and sells heists to the highest bidder takes his estranged daughter (Hailee Steinfeld) on the lam when a job goes bad. Hunted by mob bosses, contract killers and dirty cops, he takes out a life insurance policy on himself to leave something for her.
God, I cannot wait to read TK’s review of that movie. And the rabbit hole of nonsense here goes so deep. Just a few more bonkers tidbits:

—The movie is directed by Peter Billingsley. Also known as Ralphie from A Christmas Story.

—The cast is bananas. Besides Vaughn and Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld, it’s got Jon Favreau, Taraji P. Henson, Bill Paxton, Jonathan Banks, and Terence GarbagePerson Howard.

—It’s based on a graphic novel you’ve never heard of.

—It’s co-produced by WWE Studios.

—The production history is a mess. Universal shut the whole thing down in 2013, a month after Steinfeld was cast. Then a smaller studio started it back up a year later. They finished filming in April of 2014, and it’s being released on VOD in March. (And limited theaters in April.)
