Camila Alves-McConaughey Insists Her Husband Is Not A Stoner

Camila Alves-McConaughey, wife of Matthew McConaughey, was recently on Southern Living’s Biscuits and Jam podcast to talk “Cooking, Community, And Calling Texas Home.” And her famous husband. She hypothesized that people don’t think of McConaughey as a stoner anymore “because of the work and things he’s been doing.”

“But when we first started dating,” she said, “It was this image of Matthew of getting high, laid back, no shirt, whatever, which I”m like, ‘The guy doesn’t even smoke. What is this vision coming from?’”

Now, Camila. Let’s be honest with ourselves. There was, you know, that time he got arrested in 1999 for marijuana possession and resisting arrest. Remember? The police were called to his house at 2:45 in the morning because of a noise complaint, and he was playing the bongos in the nude? No? He wrote about it in his memoir, Greenlights:

“What I didn’t know was that while I was banging away in my bliss, two Austin policemen also thought it was time to barge into my house unannounced, wrestle me to the ground with nightsticks, handcuff me, and pin me to the floor.” Actually, yeah, you’re right, it sounds like he’s completely over it so, maybe he didn’t tell you about it.

Or there was the press for the 2018 movie The Beach Bum, when he admitted to smoking on set with Snoop Dogg. Remember that?

But no, Alves-McConaughey insists that her husband is a lot like his mother, “Very organized, very minimalistic, very on time, very prepared.” Because everyone knows you can’t be all of those things and a stoner at the same time. Whatever you say, girl!
