Bruce Campbell Follows Up His Excellent 'Fargo' Cameo with Another Masterful Impression

There’s a nice sort of full-circle nod to Bruce Campbell’s life and career in this past week’s episode of Fargo. The Ash vs. Evil Dead actor performed a refined impression he’s been working on since his high school days with executive producer John Cameron, Campbell’s friend since they were kids. Playing Ronald Reagan circa 1979 — right about the time Campbell got his first television role — must have felt absolutely surreal. Then again, he’s also resurrected Ash from his 1981 beginnings, so who knows?

Last night, Campbell and his AvED costar, Lucy Lawless appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and guess what? Throw a pair of spectacles on, and Campbell makes a damned good Colbert.

Impressive, no? But, despite his massive talent for mimicry, I still love Bruce best for the role he originated, and at the age of 57 he shows no sign of slowing down.

Ash vs Evil Dead airs Saturday night on Starz.
