And On This Day, Chris Pratt Became Fallible

Chris Pratt has had a fairly easy run of it as far as public perception is concerned. The man can’t do any wrong. Even his inability to master the English language makes him more endeaering to us. I mean, the man kicks down doors and saves babies, he admits insecurities with his own body issues, he has the world’s most PERFECT English accent, and when he sings “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in Wrigley Stadium, he leaves it all on the field.

Ahead of his Jurassic World press tour, Pratt even made a pre-emptive apology for anything wrong he might do or say, and up until now, he’s been mostly boner free.

And then this happened. At the Jurassic World afterparty last night, Pratt sinned against the music Gods by getting up on stage with Jimmy Buffet and singing the second worst song known to all of mankind (behind only the unfortunate 1981 Oak Ridge Boys’ smash hit, “Elvira”). He sang “Margaritaville.”

It’s OK, Pratt. I mean, worse things have happened. Probably. Certainly not in my lifetime, but surely, in previous centuries, a star of this magnitude might have done something as egregiously in poor taste as singing “Margaritaville” out loud in a public setting. It may be a career setback, but if any one can come back from this, it’s Chris Pratt.
