If you don’t know who Kurt Metzger is and you’re a fan of Inside Amy Schumer and/or you’re a decent human, I’m really sorry for what I’m about to do.
Since 2013, several internet feminists and journalists have taken note of Inside Amy Schumer writer Kurt Metzger’s history, which is, shall we say, problematic. And while I know that word has been abused to meaninglessness, it’s the only word that properly fits him. Here’s some backstory. Now flash forward to 2016.
A UCB comedian named Aaron Glaser has been accused of raping multiple women. Rightly, he’s been banned by clubs and removed from UCB. Not surprisingly, men have feelings about it. Dumb ones.
Like Michael Che. And if you know any women in the NYC comedy scene, this is not fucking shocking.
But getting the most attention is Amy Schumer writer Kurt Metzger. He’s appeared on the show several times, both as characters and in an Amy Goes Deep segment discussing his open relationship. When Glaser was accused of rape and faced consequences for it, something that rarely if ever happens, Metzger had something to say. And then he just kind of kept going.
Fucking christ, that isn’t even all of them. And that’s just Facebook. Don’t bother with his Twitter unless you have hours to spare.

You know, maybe men actually don’t get it. Maybe they are all genuinely confused as to why a woman wouldn’t go to the police. So I’ll explain it slowly.
BECAUSE NO ONE FUCKING BELIEVES US. EVER. SHIT LIKE THIS? THIS IS WHY.
Anyway. This afternoon, Schumer finally spoke out. And she distanced herself from this clownshoe like he was leaking arsenic.
I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn't be more against his recent actions.

Kurt does not work for me. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. His words are not mine.

It’s possible she fired him long ago (though not that long ago as he appeared onscreen multiple times last season). But as she spent much of yesterday blocking those who tweeted her about his comments (including Roxane Gay, which, WHY?) it seems like this might have been the final straw.
Good fucking riddance.
UPDATE: A reader (granted, one mad about this piece) alerted us to the fact that Metzger isn’t a writer anymore … because he’s a producer. Fucksticks.
UPDATE #2: Metzger wasn’t fired because apparently the show isn’t being made at the moment and the whole thing was well-worded semantic bullshit.
I didn't fire Kurt. He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.

And Metzger is taking credit for the whole thing.
Fuck everything.
