Amber Heard's Swift Response to Johnny Depp's Bullshit Power Play Is PERFECTION

Earlier today, we wrote about the latest disgusting move from Johnny Depp, who heard Amber Heard say she was going to donate her entire $7 million settlement payment to two charities, and thought it was an acceptable move to bypass his now-ex-wife and donate the money directly, in her name. He also made the decision to donate the money in installments, over some undisclosed number of years.

This had many of us confused. The language was a little vague, but it sounded like he was cutting out the middlewoman and donating Heard’s money. Some of you thought maybe he was still going to pay her the money they settled on, but donate an equal amount, just to steal her moment. Most of us didn’t understand how this could possibly be legal, unless their settlement agreement was shockingly vague in its wording. Then there was the added realization that this meant Depp would be getting one hell of a tax refund.

It didn’t take long for Heard to give an official response, though, and you guys, that response is INCREDIBLE. If she wrote this, I want to be best friends. If her lawyers wrote it, they don’t specialize in divorce, their official field has to be PERFECT SHADE.

Amber Heard appreciates Johnny Depp’s novel interest in supporting two of her favorite charities, the ACLU for domestic violence and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. This is great and unexpected news. However, if Johnny wishes to change the settlement agreement, we must insist that he honor the full amount by donating $14 million to charity, which, after accounting for his tax deduction, is equal to his $7 million payment obligation to Amber. We would also insist that the full amount be paid immediately and not drawn out over many years.

Anything less would be a transparent attempt by Johnny’s counsel, Laura Wasser and Patti Glaser, to reduce their client’s true payment by half under the guise of newfound concern for charities that he has never previously supported.

That statement is a thing of fucking beauty. Oh, Johnny Depp thought he could just give Amber Heard’s money to two charities he never gave a crap about before— one of which Heard has been volunteering with for a DECADE— while benefiting financially from that gross, obvious power play?
