Allison Mack, Clark's Best Friend in 'Smallville,' Is a High Ranking Member of a Sex Cult

Some of you may be familiar with NXIVM from this article published earlier this year. It bills itself as a multi-level marketing agency, but it’s basically a pyramid scheme crossed with Scientology with much of the DNA of the 70’s self-help outfit EST.

In short: It’s a cult.

Most people knew that. There have been a lot of accusations by ex-members of NXIVM that it’s also a sex cult — the sort of outfit where, as you rise in the ranks, you get to join founder Keith Raniere’s deeply sexist, deeply troubling harem. Lucky you.

If you were to join the self-help cult NXIVM and eventually find yourself in the harem, it’s probably because you are young, nubile, and skinny (Raniere’s preferred harem members) and you were probably recruited into the harem by Rainer’s right-hand woman, Allison Mack.

Yeah. The one from Smallville. Clark’s bestie. The super cute blonde who reminded you a little of Veronica Mars at the time, which is why you ended up watching Smallville a lot longer than you probably should have (Jesus, did that show really run for a decade?)

Anyway, Allison Mack is heavily involved with DOS, the secret society of NXIVM. It’s a sex-cult pyramid scheme, which is to say: Recruits have to recruit more “slaves” into the harem, and the women are branded (with both Keith Raniere and Allison Mack’s initials), and they have to to divulge some some huge personal secret so that the cult will have leverage over them, which prevents them them from telling anyone about the sex cult.

Of course, the Daily Mail broke the story about Allison Mack. Sort of. It began with a NYTimes article, which led to a blind item in The Sun and details about the cult from a former member, and there’s certainly public evidence of Mack’s involvement in NXIVM, and it all came together with the revelation that Allison Mack has been brainwashed by Keith Raniere and that she recruits women into a slave cult, where women are beaten and branded.

Raniere, known within the group as the Vanguard, was indicted two years ago for fraud. That case is still pending. A number of women have also left the cult since May. They are currently in recovery.
