During last night’s ceremony, you probably had a few fleeting questions that had little to do with the movies being celebrated and more to do with things like, “Who is that guy?” or “Who is she married to?” We’re here to answer some of the questions that crossed your mind last night or came up in conversation at an Oscar party. In case you missed it, here are the winners, and here’s Kayleigh’s write-up of the ceremony.

Who is Adrien Brody’s girlfriend, Georgina Chapman?

Adrien Brody gave the most long-winded, self-indulgent speech of the night. During it, he mentioned his girlfriend, whom the cameras cut to frequently. She’s a British fashion designer, though she’s probably best known for her previous marriage to disgraced studio head Harvey Weinstein. They divorced amid Weinstein’s public downfall. Chapman has been with Brody since 2019, and the stepkids to whom Brody gave a shout-out, Dashiell and India, are Weinstein’s biological children.

Related: Why did Halle Berry kiss Adrien Brody before the ceremony?

Back in the 2003 Oscar ceremony, when Brody won Best Actor for The Pianist, he spontaneously kissed presenter Halle Berry—without her consent—which has drawn backlash over the years. Berry “returned the favor” on the red carpet this year, kissing Brody without his consent. However, as many pointed out, rather than being an act of revenge, the moment ended up reinforcing and celebrating Brody’s original actions.

Who is Kieran Culkin’s wife, Jazz Charton?

Charton is British and a former model. She and Culkin have been together since 2013 and have two children. During his Oscar speech, Culkin joked that he’d like to have four kids, and she agreed—if he won an Oscar. I started following her on Instagram after Culkin’s Emmy win because, honestly, she’s more interesting than Culkin, who seems to play himself in all his roles. She’s a blast.

What the hell happened to Hulu?

Yeah, that was a mess. Many cord-cutters were excited to watch the Oscars live on Hulu, only for the stream to cut out due to what Hulu called a “technical glitch.” By the time they resolved it, most viewers had missed the final two awards—including Mikey Madison’s surprise Best Actress win for Anora, which also took home Best Picture. Hulu has given conflicting reports (apparently, the stream had issues before the ceremony as well). My best guess? They had the feed set to end at 10:30 p.m., but the ceremony ran over—partly thanks to Brody’s speech.

Who was that handsome guy with the hair Zoe Saldaña was with?

That’s her husband, Marco Perego-Saldaña, a 46-year-old writer and director from Italy. They met on a flight to New York in 2013 and have three kids together.

Why did Adam Sandler yell Timothée Chalamet’s name at the ceremony?

It was a callback to the Golden Globes, where host Nikki Glaser joked that Timothée Chalamet’s name sounds like something Adam Sandler would yell in one of his movies. She got him to actually do it at the Globes, and he repeated it for fun at the Oscars.

Why were Lisa, Doja Cat, and Raye chosen to do the James Bond song medley?

Good question! My daughters knew the answer: They’re promoting their recently released single, “Born Again.” The trio seemed like an odd choice, but the song is a massive worldwide hit—especially in Lisa’s home country of Thailand.

Who is Cynthia Erivo dating?

Erivo was spotted in the audience with her girlfriend, Lena Waithe. Waithe is an actress and producer best known for creating The Chi for Showtime, though she first gained widespread recognition as Denise on Aziz Ansari’s Master of None.

Who did the In Memoriam tribute leave out this year?

The most glaring omissions were Shannen Doherty, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Tony Todd. Doherty and Trachtenberg are primarily known for TV, so their absence is somewhat understandable. But there’s no excuse for snubbing Tony Todd—a horror legend best known as the title character in Candyman (among his 250+ credits).

Who was the redhead Mikey Madison hugged after winning Best Actress?

A lot of people assumed that was her partner—especially since he pulled her speech out of his pocket—but it was actually Madison’s twin brother, whom she also thanked in her speech (for those who missed it thanks to Hulu).

What’s up with the documentary winner, No Other Land?

No Other Land is a documentary by a collective of four Palestinian and Israeli activists, centering on Basel Adra, a Palestinian activist resisting forced displacement in the West Bank. Since no American distributor picked it up, the filmmakers had to self-distribute to qualify for an Oscar. Our friend Roxana Hadadi has a great interview with co-directors Yuval Abraham and Basel Adra over at Vulture.
